Boat tyres getting old replace them or keep them?

Just been doing some maintenance on my boat and am thinking about replacing the tyres as they are nearly 8 years old.

They have plenty of tread and cosmetically appear to be fine. I have heard once tyres get old the rubber gets brittle.

Being only a single axle trailer I would hate to have a catastrophic tyre failure at highway speeds.

What do you guys reckon ditch them or leave them for the time being?

And where to get new tyres? Coleman? They are standard Dunbier 185R14's

it is easier to get them done at a tyre shop then on the side of the road

Name: Motor Trade Machinist

AKA: Mad Mick's Tyres

PH: (07) 3818 1208

and he doesn't price fix like the franchise tyre shops do

Do they show any signs of cracking?

If not save your money.

But if there is the slightest sign of cracking just replace them.

Keep your eye on the mailbox flyers for the specials.

I bought 2 x tyres on special for my trailer for my 4.35m tinny for 55 bux eack fitted.

good luck

I had a good look at my tyres when they were off last weekend and although they have good tread left on them they have appeared to have moulded themselves into a cone head style shape with a very pronounced ridge in the middle.

They will be changed...

Sure sign the belts have gone, if you dont change them they are likely to delaminate and make a god awful mess of your trailer and or boat in the process.
