LAND BASED TARPON

hey guys and girls im keen to hook into a land based tarpon. I do have a fly rod if that will help.

Mate colleges crossing is as good of a place as i know.

The Tarpon in the photo gallery are caught there.

There were caught from a canoe, however the reaches of river between colleges and the Mt Crosby weir are very narrow so there is not reason you would not be able to pick one up there. You would also have the by catch possibility of a giant herring which also make their way up that stretch.

ive seen some of those giant herring and they look pretty cool, i here the'll take the odd plastic so i might give that a go.

i caught a giant herring 2 yrs back at pinkenba...

i got it on a floated prawn and they have prety awesome areobatic skills! i ahvent caught any sports fish in fresh water so iw ouldnt no anything about catching tarpon

The only fresh water sports fish i have caught is a salmon tail catfish hahahahaha. My sister is one up on me with her 30cm bass from moogerah dam. Allthough i have caught some huge ass eels, massive brackish mullet on lines, angry turtles, chunky brackish bream on fly and yeah that sums me up...... I live near a brackish creek so i have a fair idea about brackish fishing so if u ever have any quewstions feel free to ask. Angus thats the creek near ur girlfriend.

You may find it a bit difficult to catch Tarpon at the moment as it is starting to cool down.

Colleges crossing around the bridge over the Brisbane River is an area that produces in the warmer months, particularily at night.

I am not diggin i blatantly admit to having no experiance with them,

Woulf love to hit them up with some light tacke though.
