Birthday at Bribie

Some of you may remember me from the trip up to Somerset a couple of weeks ago. Today being my birthday, dad was kind enough to take me out to Bribie Island chasing Tuna. This one went 14.5 kilo (32lb sounds bigger).

Not a bad birthday present if you ask me.

P.S. My dad is Schultzy.

Took 30 minutes on 8kg mono. Wasn't too hard a fish to land, it stayed near the surface for the whole fight & didn't do that back breaking circling deep under the boat that most of them do.

What kinda boat do you have? That tuna is F*cken Huge. Did u measure it? Looks over a metre from that angle.

Fished out of Dad's 4.2m Stessco Catcher with a 30 Honda on the back.

The tuna was over a metre, we had to cut a foot off its tail to get it into a 110lt fish box. It was much smaller than some we were casting to. There were a lot of mixed sizes around today with fish from about 6kg right up to \"I'm not casting at that!\" size.

The lure was a 42gm Lazer slug, blue with silver prism tape.

Hope to get one myself sometime soon. I hardly ever seem to find them. When I do they seem to spit the lure at the boat or I seem to hook them by the eyeball.

Was it around the beacons off Bribie?
