What do you wash your boat witha

So in preparation for my new rig I went to get some cleaning products as I have never owned a fiberglass boat before... Got everything except for the boat wash... What do people use to wash their boats and can/ should you use a wash and wax?...

Mate I wash mine at the car wash on the way home from fishing. Usually costs about $4, using the soap spray and blast. By the time you get home the boat is dry and all you need to do is flush the engine. I'll also hand wash once every two months.

I usually hand wash mine when I get home. I just use the car wash liquid. Seams to work great and cleans the carpet in the boat great as well.

Hah the old ct18 I would be scared that stuff would peel the gel coat clean off it is pretty aggressive

Car wash on the way home... nothing beats lots of high pressure water and soap to get rid of salt deposits.

Your drinking water, after a salt trip, cant beat a trip on the dam to get all that salt etc washed off!

I don't use a wash and wax, just car wash. The last time I polished my boat though, I did use a 2 in 1 polish and wax.

I can't remember which brand it was.

I do not recommend using truck wash myself, My last boat i washed when i got home with it and if you dont rinse it off before it dries it will mark your paint, and is it bloody hard to buff out...Not sure about Gel coats but some older second hand boats will have a painted hull anyway.

Good old water, water and more water

For the boat I use warm water do help dissolve the salt and a rag or mitt.

You don’t need to spend big $$$$$$$$$ on washing products. Normal washing up soap does the trick and for those stubbin blood stains, I use spray and wipe .

One of the best thing you can do for you trailer is fully summers it in a dam fir 20mins ( if not busy ) 3-4 times to a year. I know this can be very difficult for a lot of people, Otherwise hose down the RHS and give the tubing a good flush out.. when it comes to the x members, if there isn’t a accessible hole to flush them out, I drill a hole and then cover the exposed steel in gal stick and then 3 in 1 gal paint to stop rust and this gives you an excess point to flush your x members.
