I think you will find that is a cash up front(check in the bank type) amount to the fund.

The Commonwealth will be forking out multiple figures of millions in funding, grants and repairs in rebuilding infrastucture.

As far as.."What happened to charity begins at home".. when the disaster fund raising collectors knock on your door, please give generously. In this world, you never know,it may be your turn next. :)

Touring Bundaberg this afternoon, Federal Treasurer Wayne Swan again would not be drawn on whether there would be a taxpayer-funded levy, saying it is too early to discuss it.

By his side, Prime Minister Julia Gillard said the Federal Government is providing $1,000 disaster relief payments, along with primary producer and other assistance payments.

"On top of what will be hundreds of millions of dollars of expenditure into Queensland to help communities through these floods and tornadoes, we will make available $1 million for the Queensland flood appeal 2013," she said.

"We will ensure that people's donations to that flood appeal are tax deductible."
