queensland Rain, Hail or Pine

Well it's been a while since the last time I had a fish, so I was going fishing rain, hail or shine.

With the bad weather forecast I decided to venture back into my old hunting grounds in the pine with mate Craig.

Didn't take long for the first fish to hit the deck. A nice 45cm tailor in some deeper water.

Craig got a solid hit in the shallows after telling him to cast into a back eddy because I thought there would be an ambush predator there.

What followed was the best fight I've ever seen from a flathead! Gave Craig all sorts of grief. Unfortunately gut hooked her so couldn't be released.

A new pb of 61cm for him.

I managed a 45cm one not long after and we decided to call it quits after just a couple of hours fishing. :silly: the rain was starting to soak us through and it was too cold.

Fish and chips for dinner tonight.

Got to be happy with those fish for a few hours and dinner taken care of.

Nope. Caught plenty of them and see big schools of them on the sounder in the deeper holes this time of year.

Good for you, Sam. I must be getting soft. A few years ago I would have been out there thinking that the rain will bring on the fish and not too many others will bother. Here I am today in an armchair with the fire on and a glass of Shiraz in hand watching the rugby league.
