What's This Old Reel

Hey everyone...

I'm just curious if anyone would know anything about this old reel.

It is wooden and that all I can really tell you about it. I had a customer give it to me when I was at work but neither one of us know anything about it.

Looks like an old Alvey side cast reel.

Yer I dunno. It doesnt turn like a sidecast tho... I might see what alvey says tho

I reckon it could be an Alvey reel, like ellicat said, though it is hard to tell from the rust. It also could be a fly reel, like Junky said. Maybe ask a reel collector/repairer and they might know something about it and identify it.

Centre pin reel used to be popular for blackfishing.? Be interesting to see if there is any makers mark on it.The question is do you leave it as is or restore it? Maybe some advice from Qld museum  They may even interested in acquiring it.. Tacklebox and Kreel who used to be active on the site may be able to assist as they used to work at the museum.

Ok so I contacted alvey and they said it wasmt one of theirs and referred me to the australian fishing museum and queensland museum so I hopefully hear back from them soon.
