queensland Fish ID x 2 Please

Hi,

A mate of mine caught these two fish at North Point Moreton Island. They are mysteries to me?

Also the colourful one has weird "holes" in the head. Is this a disease or a feature of whatever it is?

Surge wrasse and some type of morwong?

It's a zombie surge wrasse. 

I wouldn't be eating it. 

Left pectoral doesn't look right either. 

Morwong skin looks a bit ordinary as well. 

 

TBH both fish look like they've had a hard life.

The wrasse looks like it had some kind of flesh burrowing parasite. The Morwong doesn't look healthy either. I also wouldn't eat either of them.

Eeek.... We call them Green Block Wrass and Spotted Hinde. Not many others do...

They both look messed up? I have not seen holes like that???

If only some hero would rejuvenate the local oyster population to improve the water quality in the surrounding area, then perhaps they'd look more healthy ......

The morwong looks like someone started to scale it before it all became to hard and they decided to throw it back. As for the wrasse, it’s obvious that it’s been to an overly exuberant acupuncturist.
