These are my little collection of hardbody lures I lug around with me when i'm walking the banks of the upper limits of the brackish Brisbane River (kookaburra park - Mt. Crosby). Ain't much of a collection compared to some other guys haha but it does the job nicely :) I did have like 3 Jackall Chubbys and two other SX40s...I'd like to think their in a better place right now :(

Tackle Rats Anonymous......

Like AA you only have a problem if you go to meetings.... I refuse to go to meetings, I don't have a problem. The only problem is explaining to wife why I have so many "old" lures.....

Haha, not quite mate, it's ancient so it could be a fossilised one? I found it ages ago, so decided to revive it with a new long shank hook, should give it a go one day.

Cheers,

Matt

ok - don't have that many so was fairly quick to photo them all;) I haven't included about 20 lures off the top of my head, a few vipers that I think are downstairs, host of boomerangs, another sx48, some lures I got in the post today, a few lures out back with rusted trebles the list goes on.

Starting off with the bigger stuff.. hmmm... big fish :woohoo:

TerrysOffshoreAFO.jpg

Then when you're not trolling you need to work some plastics right?

TerrysPlasticsAFO.jpg

But what if you see them smashing the surface? You need something for those!

TerrysPoppersAFO.jpg

But what if you're not out in the open waters, you need something for the fresh too! No guesses for what colour I like here..

Terrys-FreshwaterStuffAFO.jpg

Can you tell I don't chase a lot of smaller estuary fish?

Lures have certainly come a long way.

In the 60`s,we made fresh water lures up using split shots on the shaft of the hook and wrapped them in the foil from the lids of milk bottles, younger site members are probably thinking :milk bottles:?,and salt water lures:slugs:you made up from a 303/308 spent shell, drilled a hole in the firing pin striker end,put your wire through, filled it with lead, hey presto, you were in business.

If your dad owned a boat, then,it was usually a homemade bondwood, and if dad new someone with a seagull outboard, life was great.

Maxi nice collection.

I was still using a seagull in the early 80`s,they were virtually impossible to kill.

where the old home made 303 lures are concerned,i still have a couple, used one up at bribie island a month ago when fishing with number 1 son,out fished him 5 tailor to 1,he and his $567 rod,$290 reel, and his small arsenal of technology, haha, peed him right off.If he hadn`t continuosly chopped and changed lures he would have been ok.

But yea it`s all basics,find the fish,or likely area,put the work in,and hopefully,get a reward.

I often think your new age angler, reads too much into technology, colours, etc, and can forget the basics.

I only use hard bodies,works for me,I`m happy,[i`m a dinosaur]

cheers
