Cairns estuaries jighead weight

Hi all,

I will be fishing the Barron river or any estuary around. Was just wondering what weighted jighead to use as I'm new to soft plastic fishing. 

 

I currently have a 3" minnowz with 3/0 1/8th hook. Is that too light for Barra and jacks? Cheers

I'm in Brisbane and I normally just base mine off water depth and current.

That would work for relatively shallow water. If Barra and jacks are your only target, you could probably also get some larger plastics and heavier jigheads, even some weedless, like 3/8 or 1/4 jigheads and some 4 or 5 inch plastics.

Awesome, cheers mate will pick up 3/8oz tomorrow before I have a flick

Also, I'll have a go at Barra when in season, so just jacks now
