[img size=400]http://www.australianfishing.com.au/media/kunena/attachments/legacy/images/Justins_barra.jpg Has anyone seen the story on Barra Fishing at lake Awoonga from the BCF Newsletter

It was story with Justin Medcalf and Tim Morgan plus 2 BCF Guys

Well one of the BCF guys that went on the trip show me and 4 other guys some tips last weekend and we landed 20 Barra, 6 were over a metre in length

The insights he gave me were incredible, we dropped heaps but to land 20 was an experience

6 hours drive (from Brisbane)was a challenge however we have great accommodation so that took the edge of the drive.

I highly recommend Awoonga

We fish Saturday morning with only one landed and quite a few strikes but Saturday arvo we smashed them,

I have attached the URL of the video, hope it helps you smash a barra,

I hope this helps

Welcome to the site Zak.

I have never really fished a dam or in freshwater for that matter. I was just wondering, do u chase the barra for the fun/fight or do you eat them. I am sure i have eaten saltwater barra before and it was pretty good, am a little curious on the freshwater ones.

Sorry for being a noob.

Cheers

Woody

I fish for the fun of it in the dams, I have never tried a fresh water Barra but the rumours are that they taste a bit muddy, some of the fisherman there took them to eat

I highly recommend trying the fishing there because salt water Barra never reach the same size and thickness (never is a ling time but you get my drift)
