Winter Camp Location?

Hey everyone.

Just throwing something out there.

Steve Wilkes has a new campsite in addition to the one at Hinze.

This one is at Maroon Dam and is by all accounts a very good facility. Plus boats can be left at the water over night.

I just want to get a general idea of who would prefer:

Hinze Dam (Same as last time).

Or

Maroon Dam.

We can of course do both!!

But I thought most would only be able to do one or the other so I wanted to put it out there.

Ability to leave boats in water sounds good and the fact that power boats allowed should attract more members.

Probably an extra 30 k to travel for me but that is no problem.

never fished maroon before so it would be good to explore a new spot. is it just the usual bass, yellas, silver perch stocked in the dam?

reefy no mate you can take any boat you want

bretto yeah mate bass and all the others but bass will make up most of the catch

i think moroon will be a better spot with big boats and you cant beat the surface action i was there last week myself and luke got 20 bass all on surface in the one bay

Ok guys this is looking promising.

This will work well with the power boats as that will get more people, and this locations can facilitate more people.

How big is Maroon? Having no HP limit sounds like it would be a very BIG dam.

Doesn't worry me - although I was looking forward to going for a midnight fish at Hinze!

Does this Maroon have saratoga?

Can some one put up a link to fitzys sweetwater fishing locations site. It has it all also a link to the campsite which looks fantastic.

Terry 350 ha with plenty of timber to get away from the water skiers. Sorry no toga but mary river cod.

Yes I am working on a saltwater winter event. It is just logistically more difficult. The freshwater one works so well for us at present as Steve's business "Sports Tuition" cover the event insurance wise. Not to mention Steve has access to the facilties and equipment making it possible for everyone.

I have enquired after insurance etc for a bay comp and its substantial. Even more than the Brissy River Classic.

Terry Baroon pocket is 400 ha so it is relatively small.Also looks like the campsite is down close to the timbered area.

Its not very big I would say baroon or smaller

Hi Angus

Maroon will be a good venue. I'm glad there is a bit of interest. One question related to the campsite and whether is it Camp Lake Fire...the answer to that is yes.
