ive been thinking about buying a tierra 3000 and mayby a 1500 to so whats there drag like line capacity reel smoothness and are they worth the money?

also whats there rrp? because i know on ebay there around $100 or $120

BCF have them at $220 so ebay would be abetter bet. Drag on the 2500 from memory was about 7kg. I could be wrong though.

i own a 1500 tierra and i rate it as a smoother reel than my 2500 advantage...nothign but raps for them

on the official daiwa site the drag is quoted at 8.8lbs for the 2500 and 13.2lbs for the 3000:)

what lb rod would the 3000 tierra be suited for to be using it in the bay and offshore every now and then?

6-15lb would be pretty good all around bay rod for your larger fish

i am building up a 6-17lb rod matched to a 3000 shimano for bay/offshore snapper and threadfin

I have a teirra 1500 as my main breaming and lure reel. I have not looked after it well, rarely cleaning it, and its still nice and smooth. Can't fault it.

i absolutely highly doubt u would ever use/get 7kg of drag from a 3000 tierra(if thats what your planning on using). not only would the reel begin to turn to shit at those pressures you would need massive LB line to hold the pressure,knots would def break and hooks would straighten etc..if your planning on running 7kg drag i would team the reel up with a broom handle to balance it up.

7kg of drag would amost pul you over board too(seriously!!)i was running 5.5kg drag on my O/H saltist at frazer islandand i had to lock my knee's into the side of the boat and the rod was nearly snapping. but when there's sharks around at frazer there's only one way to get fish up

but back to the topic a 3000 tierra with the about a 4-7kg rod would tame almost all bigger bay fish.

id prob be using 2.5-3.5kg drag with it

ill be using the rod for in the bay but when im offshore if were in around 40-60m of water then id use it then too for some fun but if i get bricked to much out comes my torsa and 15kg rod and 5kg drag or so haha

I knew I read that a 2500 Daiwa had 7kg of drag, but it was a Sol (15.4lb). Interesting that the new aussie site doesn't list max drag pressures.

oh yeah they all say they have 7kg of drag but i'd love to see it...7kg is a shat load of drag...2-4 is more likely

my 3000 shimano has 10kg of drag. ive tested it

and my 2000 has 5kilo

that shouldnt be happening, unless your leader is like 15-20lb,

bimini twist to improved albright should break nearly at 100%

3000-4000 tiera with a daiwa saltwater rod in 10-17lb or 12-20 would be perfect- be a ripper combo for what you want... as seen on the fishing dvd

we tried all different knots...sometimes they just wont hold..might have been leader material.it was jinkai.15lb will break way before 5.5kg in my experience

well no 6lb wouldnt last on 4kg because 4kg is over 8 lbs lol

but no way should 40lb braid and matched leader be breaking under 5.5kg of pressure

I am getting one Tierra and a Exceler off bass pro shop soon they have the Tierra for $115 and then the Exceler for $70. I have heard good reports from both reels so far.

They have 3000's for $115 then the 4000's are $130 and postage ranges from $25-$60.

I would go with the exceller over the tierra. They seem to have less play in the handles and the drag is great. My mate bought a tierra and had to replace 2 of the bearings a week after buying it. I have a 1500 exceller and have pulled in some stonker bream and some rat king down south no troubles.

the excelers cost less than the tierras too

i think ill get 1 of each then the 3000 tierra and then once i get some more money a 1500 exceller

also how much 15 and 20lb braid would fit on a 3000 tierra?

Intresting Imight just do that get two excelers than buy some more lures with the left over cash.
