braid line

i will be trying for the first time to use braid with sp i have got some idears from a few guys here on what sp to use now i could do with some help on what line and poundage to use would like to use the braid or something differant,then mono, as never done this before any help would be great.

for out off the banks id be using 20lb main line on a 3-4000 size reel on a 4-8kg rod with a 20lb mono or fluro leader. lots opf different braids out there stick with a quality brand and you should be right. I like fins, Stren, TD Sensor

all depends on what your after. if its just bream/flatties then 4-8lb will be more then enough and dont forget to get some leader material. Ive been using only 4lb and looking at going down to 2-3lb. decent cheaper stuff like would fireline will be fine

trying for snapper red emperor adn what ever reef fish will go the sp

I would go with 30lb barid with 30lb or 40lb leader so if you hook a kingfish or amberjack you will have a chance at it. Then I would put it on a 4000-6000 size reel.

There are also some massive Cod on the banks, so I agree with Dec that you should go for 30lb. With the good quality braids, 10lbs doesn't make much difference.

Also depends on the terrain you're fishing.

eg. Curtain Artificial Reef has some big wrecks that require heavy line, hard drag and long leaders to keep the big ones from busting you off.

Rocky bottom or weed beds make it possible to use lighter gear.
