Had some spare time this morning, went to MacGavins View. Where is the access to the banks along there without jumping the fence? Rangers were having lunch this morning so i thought i better not jump the fence considering the signs there

alternative access is down the path on the far side , near the gates

As you stand looking at the dam wall it is along the fence to the right next to the gate. Walk in about 10 metres and take the track to the left off the road. If you find you are standing underneath some high tension power lines you are completely lost and no matter how good the water looks you should not cast a well presented lure just here. Because that would be wrong.

If I'm not mistaken that area is a no-fishing zone. But I'm just guessing.

Your guess would be right EMP. Who wants to fish the restricted zone anyway ??? the bass are just too big and fat swimming around in huge schools, just waiting to smash a lure thrown thier way.

But seriously...do the right thing. you don't have to venture into the "forbidden zone" to get onto bass, you just have to explore.

I've got to say that the last time I went to McGavins it looked like an absolute rubbish tip.

Its also the eastern edge of the stocking groups permitted fishing water. (when we are allowed boats on there!)
