PRFMA saves some more Lungfish

Even though it was a little chilly this morning, particularly the first time you got your nether regions soaked, the volunteers from PRFMA were out at NPD again salvaging lungfish.

Seqwater had to do another short release from the dam gates for flood mitigation and as usual some opportunistic fish took a dive from the wall. Fortunately not many fish got stranded this time and Seqwater will probably continue to release water from the river valve so the few fish still trapped in pools will get the chance to head downstream and safety.

The bass escapees over the last couple of weeks should be making their way towards spawning areas in the Pine Rivers and adding to the existing population. Just a reminder too, it is closed season for Bass in rivers, even the ones that escaped over the wall and you can be fined for having bass in possesion on the river below the dam wall. Plenty of variety of species just not much in the way of numbers mate, no where near as tough as the last one. The nine blokes who showed was more than enough, but that was expected after what David could see on Friday. Trust me you were better off fishing.
