Ive heard of people using red meat as bait but never tried it myself. One of my mates uses frozen chunks of steak to catch sharks. He rekons as it defrosts the blood does the job of berly and leads them straight to the bait. Sounds like it works on bream too. Ive also heard of chicken being used.

HI Kerri - Welcome

Poly's right - any red meat should work for bream, flathead and catties. I heard from a pro guy that chicken is great for Jewfish around the pin cause the crabers use it in their pots and the fingerlings get used to it. ;)

I tend to use traditional baits but doesn't say other don't work. My problem is I always eat the bait if it looks like food.

Kerri,

I used to use chicken breast all the time and I think it outfished anything else I had especially for bream. I have been using live prawn lately and I think that may be the best all round bait but if I didn't think I could get any live prawns I would be bringing chicken breast.

Welcome

Jmac
