fuel leak

after yesterdays fishing mark noticed a fuel smell after getting back to the ramp could not see any fuel,but saw some today,and it is coming from where the fuel gauge sensor,as i tried to screw it down tight it just comes to a point and keeps turning as the boat plains or as the fuel goes towards it it leaks out,so would any body know the best way too fix this,any help would be great.brad

what sort of material is the tank made of? alloy? f/glass.??

its made of a hard plastic of some sorts and a hole has been drilled and threaded and the fuel gauge screws into it and i think it threaded.

Could try re-tapping it???

i will try and get a new and a little bit thicker o-ring and see ho it goes,or i could just cover the hole,not sure if this will cause a problem with the censor saying there is no fuel and wont run because of this,will try all cheaper things first.

you might try looking at some lock tight they have a huge range for diferent purposes and materials

personally i wouldn't muck around with it, see if it still under some sort of warranty, i know the lads you bought the boat off, if ya want we can go for a drive up and see if an alloy replacement can be on offer! up to you, bloody gary owes me big time. he knows it too. think about it.
