About a year ago I decided to spent some money on a pretty lure (the baby vib 43)

Was pretty excited to get out on the boat and try it out...

Till i noticed the warning on the bottom of the packaging. A year later and i still havnt used it as: - fear of losing it

- fear of mutation

anyone else had anything like this before?

Funnylurebabyvib43.jpg

I thought something might have been unusual when crazywalrus said i should post it on afo.

Cain.

California, along with a few countries have gone the extreme Green way to the detrement of their economies, lifestyle and common sense.

Just about everything that comes from there has a warning.

The inhabitants need a warning on everything.

Even the Governator will be back to get you.

These lures may give you cancer if the hooks tear your bowel on the way through. So it's only fair that the Californians warn you.

yea i think they're crying about lead, which is actually quite harmless in a pure metallic state (don't take this the wrong way, use common sense when working with lead all i'm saying is you won't get brain damage from picking up a sinker) and very safe encapsulated in plastic

lead oxides and salts such as in lead paint, leaden fuel etc are what causes the most biological damage, or a lifetime of poor handling techniques allowing gradual buildup of lead in the blood

I'm pretty sure that label can apply to lots of things. Could be lead, fibreglass, petroleum based products etc. I think it's just easier to put a safety label on something and be I guess insured against any repercussions rather than going to lengths to prove that it won't cause cancer, birth defects. Although, it's almost impossible to prove something like that because cancer isn't exactly the most predictable disease in most cases.

In short, I wouldn't worry. I'd be far more concerned about the amount of sun exposure you encounter while using it than anything found in the lure...

maybe it means something else, metallic lead isn't a chemical.

cheers

If its not a chemical what is it?

Vegetable, Animal?

Of course its a chemical, its also a metal.

You guys are right its all to do with the lead.

Because it has been linked to the problems mentioned, anything that has lead in it will have that label in the US.

Customs aren't gonna bat an eye at this because it is not a childs toy and hence they are not responsible if it is not used in the appropriate manner.

They only stop toys that have high lead content (usually from china and found regularly in show bags) because they can't gauruntee that kids won't stick them places they shouldn't...
