Aaron Got another one

James, I know Aaron looks like a fish but what did the Barra look like.:woohoo: :P

You gotta watch that Aaron bloke - hair trigger personality - quite dangerous sometimes - I feel safer knowing that he is up there for the weekend. :P

That makes 2 Barra for Aaron so please tell the fish, I mean Aaron, if he gets 1 more barra that will be one more then my total. I've only ever boated 2. That should spur him on to boat a couple more tomorrow.:S

Too many Bass :pinch: - I've never heard you complain about catching anything before, Talipia included. :silly:

Look forward to the report - where you got the Barra, Lure or bait? Where all the bass where? Sand flies? Pub and counter meals? Truck stop? Ramp Rage.

About James - What has he done? - someone keeps taking his Karma - I've given it back twice now but his score is -1. Maybe he didn't let someone past the front gate!

Im glad you asked Brian.

Im having dramas with some people from a local website who are also members here, they have been recommending that people call my boss and complain that Im doing the wrong thing. They have initiated some slur campaigns on various websites and in local tackle stores ( its amazing that lengths some people will go too, one website owner who has NEVER fished Lenthalls took it upon himself to register a complaint with my boss because his website members supposedly made an allegation. It turns out the guy concerned does not use the internet and was NOT interested in anything the website owner was doing. I spoke with the guy 4 days after I caught him and his two mates leaving the back area of the dam, I did stop them and take details, ask questions & check things out, now they know the rules and do the right thing ).

The main problem with people sneaking in around the back of the dam is they are normally doing the wrong thing eg; gill netting, taking undersize fish, exceeding bag limits, leaving behind heaps of rubbish, causing the bank to erode prematurely & further to that they are not allowed to enter the dam from back tracks because its a work site and they might get run over by a pair of Cat D9's dragging a rather large chain through scrub. Sometimes those dozer drivers cant even see the blade let alone 10ft in front of it, they operate from a GPS and we all know that campsites, people & cars arent normally marked on GPS systems.

WBWC rules state -

Camping is not allowed.

Access to the dam is only permitted from the access gates.

Gates are open from 6.00am to 4.00pm, access outside these hours is not permitted.

I put it down to being jealous & particularly nasty. I will apologise for it being such a long winded and a rather boring story.

If they wanted the job then they should have applied for the position or in one case just signed the contract like I did !!!

This same website owner banned me from his website because I promoted another local website to interested people in exactly the same way I promoted his website to interested people. An old saying that goes like \"Whats good for one ...\" springs to mind !!! basically the hatred he has for me all stems from this.

We as Rangers are responsible for ensuring that all persons do comply with WBWC regulations, if they dont then we take details and pass them on to relevant authorities.

I find it amusing that the same people are so pro active in wanting illegal activities stopped, that now its being done they dont like it.

If this fishery gets shut down, I will be able to say I did the right thing and I did my job.

It is unpleasant being a Ranger when people treat you like the enemy.

At the end of the day its only a minority who are causing problems and they will be weeded out. The vast majority of people are glad to see rangers ensuring the fishery & waterway are well looked after, plenty of good people do offer assistance and support.

Once gain Im sorry I had to go into such long winded response, it annoys me that I had to do this.

James,

If one thing working security has taught me is the world is full of morons. You guys are doing a great job out there. The fish are plentiful, there are no annoying skiiers on the dam, and its good that u are approachable and helpful with tips to people new to the dam.

Mate i know heaps of fishos like that! They have no problem publicly wagging their fingers at those who break the rules, then go and break them themselves! I new a lot of crabbers like that! Thats when the whole, \"Its only 1 jenny, i've released the other ten,\" attitude comes in. It really bugs me! Then they have the gall to dis those who are doing the right thing when caught!

Sorry Big Unit did not realise you were \"james\" I thought they were talking about jimmybob, and was treally confused!

I saw the post/s your talking about, I wondered whether it was you or Paul they were having a chop at.

I added a few lines saying people from this site had been spoken to by the Rangers and had no probs, I also asked what the issue was - they seem to think your a bit overzealous! Personally I'd rather have an overzealous ranger than one who did nothing.

To be honest from the description, from what had been said, it did not appear the ranger was doing anything different from visits I have had from DPI.

If rangers dont have the same powers (which seemed to be what was inferred )its no skin off my nose giving them a look, and if your doing the right thing I dont see that it should be a problem.

However some people get offended / upset/ or whatever and dig their heels in. (Whether they are in the right or not). I did ask if they thought it was a case of \"the Ranger\" being overzealous, or not fully understanding their duties, but I got no response, to that, so I figured that might be the case.

Mate do the job, your being noticed, (even if attracting some heat), so people know to be on their best behaviour. Its often a thankless task, so let me say thanks! Its people who have a go who make a difference in the long run.

Your doing a great job mate! (even if I've never been to the lake mentioned).

Keep up the good work and keep ya chin high as there are always idiots who want to do the wrong thing.

It ashame that you have to explain your actions as you are only doing your job but on the other hand the bullshit that you put up with comes with the job.......

Let me clarify this -

I caught three guys leaving the back of the dam, I stopped them, took details, checked eskies & they went on thier way with the NEW knowledge of WBWC regulations.

A local website owner ( who is a member here ) took it upon himself to call and complain to my boss.

The three guys I caught did cop it sweet and one guy has been back to Lenthalls since and has done the right thing. This same guy also told me that he does not use the internet and wants nothing to do with what the website owner was doing. In fact because of the website owner the issue has been blown right out of proportion and unfortunately I was left with no choice but to pass on the details of these three guys to authorities, after I had already told them I didnt see a problem as long as they did the right thing in future and I would take it no further.

The person/s who are giving bad KARMA are the not the same three guys I cautioned.

Big Unit can u pm me with the name of the other website it has be mentioned on so i can take a looksie??

I cant recall the name of it, perhaps someone else can remember it ?

I will already have enough dramas with these people without actually naming them, Im just sick of them and the petty school yard game that they are playing.

Cheers

James
