Nudge Bar Rod Holders

Hey guys had a look back through the older posts and couldn't find anything but will start a new thread even though it's probably been spoken about a hundred times.

Rod holders on my nudge bar.

Legal or not.....

what i have herd... no...as they can cause alot of damage to a person ( if you hit someone their stuffed anyway ) but if not in use the have to be removed....

I got pulled up with them on a few years ago and was given a warning. I was told they are legal to have on while they have rods in them but must be removed when the rods come out.

Yep, illegal if not in use. You can just put some hose around the u-bolts, and fit them with wing nuts. When you are not using them, loosen the nuts and rotate it so its inside the bar.

I have also seen some removeable plastic ones at BCF a few years ago.

i tried to put them on a nudge bar and found i couldnt fit them right as the bar was smaller then a bull bar in height.

Page 10 and 11. Also gives some more info about only being mounted on the left hand side (ie not on a centre mounted nudge bar) and carry no more than 4 rods.

Unfortunatley centre mount is my only option until I can either afford a bullbar or roof racks Oh well as long as their only on when I need them should be ok :dry:

My current vehicle doesn't have a bullbar, so I modified the rod holders so they clamp onto the roof racks with the rod tips pointing forward and the reels vertical. The reels are held back in the slots with bungee. I actually prefer it that way now, as I don't have that visual interference and I don't need to worry about height clearance when going under trees. I once broke a 14ft rod on the superstructure of the Combie Trader, which made it an expensive trip.

I have been using mine for 15 years +

Only one occasion when a cup lost suction but no drama as the rods were tied down which kept things relatively in place. User error was to blame.
