Bowfishing?

Does anyone else on here do any fishing with a bow and arrow?

Just curios to see if anyone else does it in Brisbane or if anyone knows of a good and legal spot that they think I could use a bow to take some fish with?

Hew mate, I'm a bow hunter myself. As far as I can tell (as I'm from Vic/NSW area originally,) you can bow fish any fish at any place it is legal to spear fish, (hand/railgun.) No fresh water, so no bowing the carp (BUGGER...)

i use to do alot of bow fishing in the bay for big parrot and cod at night. and day time for shoverlies and stingrays

Which bay was that if you don't mind me asking? Did you just patrol around with the spotty until you found them or did you bait the area?

moreton bay. on my tinny i have to big flood lights on the bow facing to the water and we just drifted around over the shallows. but for night time bow fishing you nedd in to be glassed out otherwise the reflection of the rippled on the water make it hard to see

Wicked set up, I go out bowfishing squid at Wynnum and I know how hard it is to shoot them when its windy haha.

I've never done it personally, but it seems mullet in the GC canals might be a goer - Miller Wilson has some good vids on bowfishing in general, so check him out -

Hey Alldaway. You can only bowfish in salt water. 

I am not sure what species you could target except species like stingray. It is very rare to see fish in areas where you could target them.
