Beach camping and 4wding locations needed

Mate and I are supposed to head up to Double Island point this weekend as of Aus day but with the weather looking the way it is we are trying to think of other locations, plus we've been going to D.I. a couple of times a year for the last eight years, its time for a change. Is there anywhere across the border that allows beach driving and camping thats not to far away, maybe around Cabarita or something 2/3hr drive?

you used to be able to get a beach permit from the tweed shire council and camp just about anywhere

dont know what its like now that its all developed down there

nothing around the cabarita area im aware of mate as far as beach camping goes ... the way the weather is looking down here atm i would be staying home ...

Beaches north of Evans Head.

Bunjalung National Park.

Not sure on the camping part but you can access the beaches if they haven't been washed away (like they were one time we went down to get on the beach.

It was a bit steep to get onto the beach as the sand had been washed/gouged away from the coffee rock

we will be up at D.I for 4 days rain hail or shine. their are 7 4wd's going in our group. we plan to run baits out with my jet ski and do some sharkin but out main target is to chase trevs, tuna, kings and some unstopables from the headland.

We had planned to go camping with the tinnie on sth straddie for a few nights......now it's gonna be sizzler and bowling with the kids :evil: then maybe a loungeroom full of barbie dolls and watching happy feet :sick: :sick: :sick: :sick: ****** rain!

edit.... den you're a plumber right? Just hop on a plane to perth for a few days mate...or better yet charter one and take a bunch of afoers with you :cheer: community spirit and all that yeah?
