How to stop Toadies chewing off my tails???

Hey all,

Does anyone else find it is impossible to fish with Gulps around jetties?? Literally every cast you get your lure back with no tail.

Anyone got a technique to stop them?? It's really frustrating.

Hardbodies? I have the same problem at nudgee but now I just troll Hb's. I don't think theres much you can do as they hit big sp's, little sps, scented and un scented and they still rip apart snapbacks.

If anyone knows I will karma you for sure!

I know tim, just use plastics without tails....that way they will never get bitten off. cheers for the karma mate.

You still get the big banded toadies on SX40's at Shultz' canal. They will swim from 2 metres away to smash your lure

And cowfish, You still get them on hb's but they don't usually rip them in half. But they are pretty good at destroying paint jobs!

couldnt ya just see a big sea toad come in and bight a hb lure in half with its buck teeth lol

and nup dont know a way to keep the tails but ya gotta try and get paste the todaies to catch the good fish

maybe fish with a heavier jig head and work it quicker to beat the buggas....

yeah, i once got a huge toadie over 2kg and this is what happened:

1st cast, 8lb leader gone

2nd, wire trace gone

3nd, ganged hooks apart

4th, it's on

you can also cast a little bit from the snag or you can distract them chuck a prawn or somthin in water then cast or put your sp just where they all see it away from where your casting then when there distracted cast

Yeah i agree with Jimmybob and Tim.

Heavier jig head to start. But when they are thick that doesnt seem to cut it. Just use hard bodies

Nudgee creek can be impossible to fish plastics sometimes.

Once in Hervey Bay, I put out a big soft plastic and wound it in and a 45cm pufferfish was bitting it. But he didn't get hooked and he swam away. Then my brothers line got bitten off 3 times, mine 2 times and finally my day caught him.

But the toadies are everywhere so they must be there for a reason, so people who just kill them for no reason are worse than chippee with his flathead. Atleast he ate them. They can also be fun to catch. 68cm is the biggest I've seen.
