Barwon Banks 22-12-13

Went out to the Barwon Banks off Moloolaba. We left Brisbane at 12.30 and launched at 2.30 hoping to get out to the first mark before sunlight. The trip out was rough so the the trip took us 1 3/4 hours. We fished the shallow banks for a while but could not loose a bait. We set out the riggers and trolled for 2 hours with no love so we trolled up the deeper banks. This is where our day got interesting. with every drift we added to the esky and eventually bagged out on snapper although small and a couple of pearlies and flathead to round out the bag.

We head back to our orginal spot and trolled for another couple of hours chasing the elusive Hoo. This was made increasingly frustrating hearing all the captures around Hutchies throughout the day.

It was a great day out and thanks for coming along Dhess and Daveylad.

nice feed of snaps you got there mate, best size for eating tastewise. was that dusky from the banks, or is it a different type of flatty?

As we returned to the ramp in the Mooloolaba river we were stopped by fisheries who checked catch and safety gear, the guy checking said it's a Marbled Flathead, usually found in waters 80 metres deep offshore...1005 right as that's were Ted caught it.
