I would like to risk it a bit more and wait until October... Dunno how that works but have been told that the Barra fire up about then.

Yeah we were going to do Sep/Oct school holidays plus first 2 weeks of term 4, so through to about mid-October. Less travellers then and yes, the barra are meant to fire up as it gets hotter. There's the catch (pardon the pun .... 🙂) - it will be more hot and humid then so something to factor in.

would you recommend Lions Den? It looks ok?

Hey man,

I stayed there in 2017 the night of Parramatta vs Cowboys semi final was awesome atmosphere and pizza was fantastic and the beer was cold. Camped up the back past the green huts. Showers and toilets were great after a long day driving CREB track.

Ripper thanks. We will stay there then. We are having a very short day with a bit of exploring. They don't take bookings so will just find a spot. 🙂

Bramston beach

Thanks mate. The first day is a big drive so I like the idea of having an option to pull up early or keep going a bit longer depending on how we are feeling.

Is it worth soaking some baits out off the beach there?

I never caught much off the beach there however the guys just up from me caught some big catties there. I was using metal slugs. I lived in Innisfail in 2017 fished the mouth a bit on run in and caught some little queenies and blue salmon and dart. Go past entrance to caravan park keep following road its near the boat ramp. Park and walk out to it.
