Vertical Fishing

@Old Scaley and I had a session the other week and Steve hooked up to something that would not play our game. Rather it did what it wanted and Steve's rod was not quite strong enough to change its mind. Being a thinker, Steve tried vertical fishing to remove the rod from the equation....

Not sure. It wasn't like a wobby, but it could have been an absolute monster that didn't know it was hooked.

Haha. Not sure what the hell that was, but it kept us entertained for way too long. I couldn’t believe that my knots held up so well. At first I thought it was an average fish that had wrapped the line around a rosck or some coral, but it would have needed a lot of strength to drag something that heavy. Didn’t behave like a wobbly or a ray. Maybe a really big cod? It didn’t move far and seemed to be happy just hanging around under the boat. Eventually managed to snap the 30lb trace. It was a clean break with no signs of rubbing on a reef, so who knows what it was. The week before I caught a big turtle so must be due for an oversized fish soon.

Interesting technique there @Old Scaley .... I'm surprised you didn't manage to land it given all the helpful advice you were being given ......
