Ran into some of Rays mates soon after leaving the ramp, they were busy foraging and didnt hear me until late.(or smell me ) Trolled around for a couple of hours for 24 bass, some small and some ugly.

Purple putting them in the boat again, and nice little mob of pigs too. 

Used to see a lot of them while fishing when I lived in Darwin, but it was the crocks and the buff that used to put you on edge, especially when on foot.

No doubt the water board will be out there baiting pigs in the next week or so when they notice this photo.

I went for a wander out there this afternoon, pig tracks everywhere along the banks. Think they must be eating the bass because all I caught were catfish.

I'd be tempted to trap a few too eat.

They had a deer cull recently,they also used to have pig shooters, it was quite nerve rattling, you would hear a shot and duck quickly as you didnt know if it was comming your way.

Only thing I think they are after are the mussels as the water drops, I saw a sow giving birth a few years a go, could of walked up on her.

It's actually perfectly safe as they know what they are doing and don't shoot unless it is  safe to do so. 

But if your not used to it then I can imagine it's a bit nerve racking, as people just aren't used to it any more. 

Growing up in the bush gunshots were as familiar as kookaburras singing, even now in duck season it's legal to shoot on Lake Hume itself. So you can be out trolling the lake or anchored up jigging and there will be people shooting all around you from both boats and on the shore. But nobody ever gets hurt, you just have to get used to the noise.

I always used to feel a little concerned of errant shots at night when I would take my kids remote camping.
