First of all, got to say this is one of the best forums I've been on. Everyone seems really friendly and willing to help. Very happy to be here.

As the title states, 25 years since I've fished. Owned a few boats in my early 20's and nothing since. Didn't really have the desire to own another ATM for a few reasons so I decided to buy a kayak around Christmas. 

What a blast it's been so far with it. I think I have more fun it than any boat I've owned. You can get through in under a foot of water and cruise over to Peel on a good day. It cruises at 10kmh and 13-14 flat out. 

OK, that's enough about the vessel. Now onto fishing skills.

Seriously, I am a lousy fisherman but still have a great day every time I'm out there. And hey, you guys might learn me a thing or two and that could improve over time. If you see me out and about, please don't run me over. And come say hi.

I see the other day you were out at Coochie and you mentioned Peel also. Is that your main area of attack ?

Well after having failed with the cast net between 0330 and 0500hrs yesterday, (couldn't even find a silver biddy), then putting on the "picked verminator" hat until after 1900hrs, I am not feeling like I have any fishing skills either...

I had a great day however which is the most important thing. Another shout out to @ellicat for that .

That's why I love punts and small tiniest, they can go places other boats can't, don't need much water to launch or float and are nice and stable.

Had something very similar you as well, a catch power with a 2.5hp Yamaha behind it.

Definitely very flexible and awesome fishing platforms, you should enjoy yours a lot too.

Nah, I'm a bit of a trollip and get around. First time back there. Felt like coming home though. It was my go-to area back in the day. I Been doing more down the coast so far. A bit more sheltered while we got the hang of everything before heading out on more serious trips. Didn't intend to go that far on the electric motors but it was just such a good day. Paid for it on the way home against the tide.  I like to go to the dams out west as well.
