Re-claimed land @ Port

Hi Guys

I've searched the threads, but unable to locate one on the re-claimed land at the end of fishermans island.

I've seen a few groups of people being escorted up there by port authorities while in the river and they catch a fish as soon as their bait hits the water.

Anybody know how to get an invite? My brother-in-law used to have mate who worked for port/brisbane and got to go once but he now lives in england.

Any alternatives apart from jumping outta the tinnie onto the rockwall before dawn/after dusk?

My old man was lucky enough to fish there for a day a while ago. pulled out some great snapper and flatties, and a 40+ bream. They have had a few days for staff and their family to fish as a way of killing the fish that were trapped in when they started reclaiming the land, otherwise they will just end up suffocating when they fill it. It will never be opened to the public to fish tho, there are liability issues apparently.

Seems like a fishermans paradise tho, fish have been breeding like crazy.

Bloody liability issues! The ruiner of all fun!

But yeh good idea Benno, just lob them over the wall to fight another day!

Soudns like a cracker of a place to fish! Wouldn't all the water be a bit still, old and fresh by now though? or is there still inflow from somewhere? (Between the rocks?)

Righty-O. Thanks for the replies

Looks like i'll be going post-dusk or pre-dawn :)

And the tide still runs thru the rocks, so there is inflow/outflow.

Fishing right out on the mouth along the rock wall is good on outgoing tide cause the water + baitfish run out of the enclosed area thru the rocks and the predators in the open waters sit and just wait for them.

Hi

Might be "expensive" fish...

Port of Brisbane website says;

Access to the security regulated port is controlled by perimeter fencing, control points, identity cards and signage. Signs are positioned around the port, and indicate restricted land and water areas and zones. Penalties apply if anyone enters a restricted zone. One penalty point = $110.

Would it be best to look at it as a good breeding site until all filled in, if it flows into the river somewhere still?
