Finished work about 3:30pm, was meeting Terry at the mooloolah river around dusk so I headed down early to have a crack around the mouth for a trev or tailor. I started with a jackal mask vib throwing it out and working it back to the break wall, no action for a while until i got right to the end of the wall, where I got one very good hit on the drop but failed to hook the fish, brought the lure in to find it had been absolutley smashed Literally, The metal inside the lure was broken into man many pieces and the wire and stuff had been pulled through the lure to the outside, it was demolished, not sure what hit it but it had some jaw strength, oh well tied on another and continued working but couldnt entice any more strikes so, getting towards Dusk now so I tied on a surface lure and made my way back to the Jetty around the pro boats, I was throwing a Tango dancer (big surface walker) when bang big splash but no hookup, twitch twitch yep im on:woohoo: hang on im skull dragging this in   its a bloody pike a good sized one but still a pike:unsure: bloody greedy bugger hitting a 125mm lure lol. Well that was just the start got about 6 more on it before i decided stuff it and down sized to a R2S Rover 75mm surface walker inn a clear seethrough colour. and got about another 20 B4 I decided to head back to the car and grab my jumper and change over to my spinning gear and start to fish some plastics for bream. its at this time Terry turned up so we rigged up and headed to chase a few breambos. I chucked on a 2.5" gulp minnow in Sardine on a 1/16th head and started working it around but couldnt entice any fish so I chucked on a Towadi and decided to target a few more pike, well that ws the plan but about 10 casts in I got a solid hit and hookup but this was no pike lol, it did me on a pilon in 3 seconds flat, I think it was a decent trev, which is what I was targetting on the bigger lures and Bc gear earlier but couldnt entice one lol. Decided to go back to some plastics all while Terry was having some fun on the pike with some surface lures. I put on a Gulp 2" shrimp in molting on a 1/12th ehad this time and it didnt take long to produce the first bream a good fish too at 35cm went hard too

that is where the fun started they were there but not hitting very hard they were very shy and playing with the lure a lot not really nailing it, in fact Terry didnt even know he was getting bites half the time lol.

I got a few more smaller ones then this 34cm fish

I then got a 30cm model

Then I got the fish of the night, put up a good solid fight, it went 37cm

[img size=499]http://i205.photobucket.com/albums/bb161/pcsolutionman/mooloolah%20river/21st%20July%202008/P7010711AFO.jpg

Total tally for the night was

Me 16 bream and countless pike

Terry 5 bream and countless pike

It was a good night and it should only get better in the coming weeks, we got quit a few fish in the 25-27cm stage which we didnt get later in the season last year and no fish over 40cm last night so hopefully the size and numbers will increase in the coming weeks

Yeah. Eventually I started to get the hang of the ol' plastic thing. I knew when they were biting mate, just didn't get many at the beginning

towards the end when I started to get the hang of it a little more (than when I started)there was many ooohs and ahhs and aaah fk dropped another one! - just like Lee haha.

Just before we left I was bringing the plastic back in like I had been and bang pull pull this feels algith and ping... less than 3 seconds I've felt something half decent and been bitten off!!

Oh well, I'll be back I think to work on this subtle plasticy thing.

UNT: It's not the most yak friendly location. The current is pretty darn strong, real pain in the arse to be paddling around :)

We spent the week there and didn't realise that that was the same spot that you got the Bream from last year:D

I agree with Terry, we paddled there, but was so hard to keep in the same spot, so we didn't bother:(

We saw a guy get a 40cm+ Bream from the boat ramp while we were cleaning fish, so they're getting there:cheer:
