The MEGA Noosa Report

Hi all,

Due to my terrible internet connection from my current location I've had a bit of trouble getting on here! To make up for my lack of reports, here's one MEGA report including some fish from the previous few weeks!

To start things off, let me set the scene: Prawns running, BIG tides, Last of the run in the start of the run out tide, low light and a whole lot of prawn lures!

The Above combination would have to be somewhat of a favourite for me, and after stocking up on gladiator prawns from Davo's, it was time to get going! When we arrived in Noosa's Woods bay, we were greeted by a hoard of boats al with the same idea in mind: TREVALLY! Despite the busyness, our slowly worked lures got the trevally fired up and the session ended with a good haul of trevs. We were lucky enough to encounter a few different types as well, including cale cales, golden, diamond, big eye and giant trevally! I'll let the pics do the talking...

Once woods bay settled down, and after a few "interesting" fishing reports from co-workers, we swiftly turned our attention towards chasing winter-time jacks. Chasing jacks in winter isn't considered the norm by many people, but you'd be surprised what you can catch if you study the tides and fish light! One thing we found which made a massive difference to our catch rate was the use of soft vibes. These versatile lure can cover pretty much the whole water column, and because of the weight, we could fish the deeper sections of the river where these fish were holding up. The other, unexpected bonus of fishing these lure was it almost completely eliminated annoying by catch such as 15cm long big-eye trevally and tarpon!

Over a space of two nights Tim and myself boated 5 jacks, and a heap of other stuff including tarpon, trevally, bream, flathead and heaps of other odds and ends.

The manager of Davo's (who played a big part in teaching us HOW to catch these fish) also filmed a short segment on the subject...

Here's a few pictures...

Great report Chris and some awesome fish there! You and Tim certainly deserve the rewards given the time and effort you're both putting in!

Was great to catch up with you both last weekend and hope the weather is a LOT better next time I'm up that way so we can get out for a session!
