Anyone had any luck in breeding shrimp i have a 6ft tank sitting around just a thought cheers

They do breed, but you would find its not that quick.

Just grow heaps of grassy type plants and throw some big ones in.

i have 6 in a 90l tank next to my puter and one is 10cm body length and 10cm claws

they go a bit dormant when the tank is cold too, if you keep the temp at 23 or so its great for breeding.

Al i have them in there but find them hard to catch because i wont use dog food or oils cheers

They are pretty touchy to keep alive in any sort of numbers in a tank. Need really clean water, changed often.I've raised them from pretty small, bought them in in weed, never successfully bred them, had a bit of a look in to it a while back, they have some sort of larvae stage after hatching that is hard to manage, so didn't bother looking any further in to it.

realcippy try sunlight soap in your shrimp trap cant see it hurting anything and works good :cheer:

Use specially formulated native fish food pellets instead, it works fine. Even partially boiled spuds works ok.

redclaw are easy to breed.. as long as you've got enough tanks to seperate the babies out into.

works bloody great,thats all i used up home the other day for red claw and got 60 in 4 pots,and a heap of shrimp
