Fish Id please

Im not sure what there called mate, but ive thrown my net in Tingalpa creek plenty of times and have filled the net with them before.

They can be a pain in the azz too when you have to pick about 100 of them out of a 10foot top pocket net...cheers beejay P.S they are a pretty fish though arent they? Remind me of an angel fish

haha yeah. Reminds me a bit of a batfish too. Spikey little bugger though.

Probably most commonly known as a butterfish but they are also called scat and john dory. They seem to like muddy shallows near weed beds. I have seen a few that would have gone close to a kilo. Haven't tried them but hear they are ok to eat just be careful of the spines cleaning them.
