Using Live Prawns

Hi guys, causght my first prawn (yes just 1) with a new cast net yesterday and was wondering how to use it for bait?

Do I use a swivel, or sinker or just let it float to where it wants to go?

Any advice is appreciated, thanks

Depends where you are going to use it. The main thing is to just pin it through the tail so that it stays alive. If bottom fishing use a trace so that it can swim around or just pin it and leave it swim around or alternativly fish it under a float. They usually try to swim to bottom and if pickers are a problem under a float is quite good if there is no run in the water.

pin it through the 1st section of the tail. i normally use my live prawns on a running sinker rig. no problems there. if there's no current, or you're fishing from a boat, you could fish it the same way on a float. normally very effective fished near snags and stuff!

you could free-line a live prawn i guess, but i think those'd be the bigger ones as it would be abit difficult to cast a small livie out.

also, try to use hooks with as light a gauge as you can get away with as this keeps the prawn alive longer, and allows it to swim better!
