I was reading an old fishing mag this morn.and came across this article.

I thought you might like to try & guess the \"weight\".

Fish... Northern Blue fin TUNA

Length...10'6 (3.2mts)

Girth....6ft (1.83mts)

Post a response and I'll reveal all in a couple of days.

No prizes, just a bit of fun.

Here is a pic.. [img size=363]http://www.australianfishing.com.au/media/kunena/attachments/legacy/images/Scan20011.JPG

Anyways I think from memmery it weighed 220kgs, That 1 in this pic looks a tad bigger so I'll say 240kgs.

You're wrong kriso :P . It's Wivanhoe Dam. Geez, get it right next time :woohoo: .

I wonder what was said when they got it to the top. We're gonna need a bigger net. Acctually hold that thought, where gonna need a bigger boat!

Well it seems that you know your fish.

A short history on the capture.

The fish was caught in 1977, of the small fishing village of \"CARAQUET\" in the gulf of St Lawrence ,Canada.

Caught by Bill Wilkie of New Zealand.

It did not quailify for IGFA , as the skipper of the charter boat bled the fish ,so it could be sold, thus loosing weight from the blood loss.

When they returned to port, some hours later, the WEIGHT was 1152lbs(521.85kg).

At the time it would have been a new record.Bit disquailifed for being cut.The skipper sold the fish for $2,500 It was packed into a box and flown to japan..

Thanks for your intrest and having a bit of fun.

Laurie
