Mangrove Jack eating live mullet in tank

I found this and thought it was quite interesting.

The Jack doesn't attempt to swallow until it has flipped the mullet head first.

So I guess the take home message is not to strike a live bait when you see taps on the rod. Wait until the fish has swallowed the livey and the rod actually buckles over

It'll be hard to show restraint in future and wait for the rod bend, but I will try. :whistle:

his colour changes depending on mood. When eating he tends to get white patched in places. But is generally crimson

They are the most agressive fish I have ever kept. So good to watch with live bait. Lost the last one at 45cm. Current one is about 15. Usually just cruises around, introduce the live bait, he freezes, fins stand straight up then a quick flash and the food is gone all in two seconds. They also try to eat fish the same size. Lost a lot of natives and cichlids due to the old one.
