Getting my boat licence

Hi everyone

I'm going to go for my boat licence before the end of the year and I live on the North side of Brissy so I would be looking at doing it at Bribie, Redcliffe or Shorncliffe. Can anyone recommend a good company to go through?

I got mine through ABC Boat and PWC Licensing, out at kooka park when it was open. Im sure they do licensing in other sections of the river and redcliffe/scarborough area. http://www.abcboating.com/QLD/brisbane/brisbane.php

Don't think you could go too wrong with either of the 2 companies listed. Both have several providers and locations and I believe would be more thorough in their delivery than a 1 man band.

And just remember this is the only formal training you need or may purchase prior to being out on the water as a master so its worth soaking up all the info you can so look for pre course reading, comprehensive course notes and folder to take away and a good amount of on water time.

Things have obviously changed since I got my licence, after spending hours studying the rules, the bloke asked me if I was sensible in a boat and when I said "yes" he wrote me out the certificate.

archies, i think he caters more for newer boaties and my wife was impressed with him. so thats saying something!

The courses being considered adequate to let someone loose behind the helm of a boat with maybe 10 minutes practical experience!

They do do a good job of the theory etc, I quite enjoyed that bit.

My wife and friend took there licence through north side boating-they had a full day on the water covering everything from putting the bungs in prior to putting it in the water to retrieving it at the end.I think it was worth the money as there are too many people on the water who really shouldnt be there!

Did mine through ABC Australian boating college two day course that was theory the first day and prac the second day, well worth it i reckon

I did mine with ABC boating gold coast, took a good full day and was alot of fun, the only bad thing I have to say is that there should be more prac then theory.
