New towing regs?

Recommended Posts

Not sure if this regulation is new or not but was bought to my attention recently, my camper van is 6 metres, boat on trailer 5.3m, box trailer 4.2m, meaning all my rigs would exceed the 7.5m length,

Where would you put the sticker on a boat/trailer,

I put the sticker on my van cause its wide and high and I can't see behind

In relation to regulation, common words used are "must" and "shall" (meaning compulsory) along with "may" and "should" (both of these are allowances or recommendations to do something, but not compulsory)

What the law states is:

1. rigs >= 7.5m in length 'may' show those signs (optional)

2. rigs >= 7.5m in length, and requires additional lanes (or to straddle your lane) to turn left/right at intersections, you 'must' display those signs (compulsory)

As for boats, most are either ignorant to that regulation, or are not required to display the signs as they can make their turns without straddling/additional lanes.
