A nice crisp morning turned into a bright sunny morning out at NPD. There was plenty of fish to be had, I managed 66 bass and one yella on lures, trolling and jigging before having a quick shrimp session trying to find some more yellas, but after 11 more bass I gave it away.

I'm starting to suspect there are yellas hiding under the bass a lot of the time Dino, and it is only when the bass go off the chew the yella's get a chance at the bait.

Got 4 yella's on the koala straight drop off last trip after the bass slowed down.

Same with the woodpile, usually bass not biting there when I do get a few yella's from there.

Sure have, for many years it was very hard to raise a scale during summer in this dam.

I know most of the time the yellas like to sleep in, however the last couple of trips I have scored a yella first up while trolling.

Why is that? Purely a lack of numbers?

No the bass seemed to stay down in the out of bounds areas chasing the bonies that stayed in that area. We also used to have the big girls come to our area in winter but now they stay down. Over the last 3 years it has all reversed, I dont know why.

I think the habits of the fish changed after the big wet years. Probably also reshaped areas of the dam floor making the bait fish behave differently. Keeping the dam deliberately at lower levels probably also contributes. Lots of changes to the environment.
