Stocking day NPD 17/12/16
« on: Today at 07:32:22 PM »

Today PRFMA members, permit holders and visitors helped release 80000 bass and 20000 golden perch fingerlings that were purchased from Hanwood hatchery into NPD.
To ensure a better survival rate members equip their boats with containers with aerators and distribute the fingerlings into shallow weedbeds at various points around the dam.
I have a 80l esky in my boat so can take a fair few fingerlings and ended up doing 4 runs
Prior to this method we used to just bucket the fingerlings close to the ramp at Boral Landing.
Following the release most stayed for a barbecue and to hear a report from the treasurer on the results of the SEQ waters review on the recreational use of NPD and Kurwongbah.
A few of us managed to squeeze in a short fishing session before the release.
Prior to the NPD release the PRFMA with the assistance of some of the members of the Kurwongbah Water Ski club released 20000 bass and 10000 golden perch fingerlings into Kurwongbah.
The use of the ski boats certainly made the distribution of the fingerlings much easier.
The Kurwongbah fingerlings were purchased utilizing grant monies from Morton Regional Council and the NPD fingerlings were paid for utilizing SIP and Monies raised by the PRFMA via their boating access scheme.
Cheers
Ray
