ur biggest cattie in brisbane river?

just wonder how big the cattie can grow in brisbane river. i have heard of ones the size of me but i wonder if anyone has actually landed any of that size.

My biggest is 60cm , one of my friends reckons he got a 124cm one but i reckon hes bs'ing.

Mines only 45cm or something (luckily:D), but I've seen pics of 70-80cm ones.

Some species Catfish do grow bigger than you Kevin (no matter how tall you are), but I think that the ones in Brissie don't get that big

i agree with u. some FW catties can be HUGE but th biggest i have got in brisbane river's only around 75 as well.

The size of the catties depends mainly on the size of the river as well.. If u look at mekong catties which is one of the largest in the world u will realise that the river system they lived in is so much bigger than our brissy river... with mor abundant food source i believe that they will get bigger.. just my two cents worth !

a friend and my self have pulled one in that was very close to 4ft but no picks so well be hitting the same spot for the classic that may open a few eyes ive had plenty in the high 80s and low 90s but only seen the one monster try around the sewage outlets for the monzies its paid off for us and big live bait 30cm plus mullet

afore brisbane i use to live in yeppoon.

i cought one there in a creek that easily went 110...possibly more.i think it was just a stray cattie tho as this river was too small for this to be a resident fish

I have caught one with my mates in a tinny at the mouth of Oxley creek. We were shark fishing and thats exactly what we though we had. This catty went a little over a meter (the tape we had was 100cm and it went maybe 10cm over). Hard to measure exact as it was pitch black etc, but it was a beast.

That would have been a \"Salmon Tail Catty\" we used to catch plenty in Roslyn Bay & up at Cario. They come in from the ocean to Spawn.

Would have been the same ones that \"Beefa\" caught at the Swains.

You can catch pleanty out on the wide grounds aswell.

My biggest is 62cm and me and pinkey have caught a ship load of ones over 50 cm seem to never get the ones over 65-70cm though?

Well for the 1m+ catties we caught, the bait was a 30cm dead mullet. So dont be afraid to use big baits!

as a kid we used to catch monster catties off the grain wharf at Pinkenba, but they've cleaned up their act over the years. The biggest I've caught recently went 71cm and that was at the Sndgate treatment plant in Cabbage Tree Creek.

my personal best is 57cm but i've caught plenty of 50cm+ of late. The more i read this thread though the more my hopes of winning the catfish division in the BRC are plummeting.

I Think all the bigger catfish are breading at the moment and thats why they are been caught but when it cools down maybe the biggens will go off the bite

It would be awsome if there was like a records table on this site saying the biggest speciecs caught from the river by a member.like cattys, sharks, threadys, bream, eels, flathead, stingrays, squire, jacks, cod, jew, ect. Then keep upgrading the records ect....

catfish are mouth brooders and i thought that they bred in winter and that's why they went off the bite. but who knows except the biologists. i've never caught one with eggs though.
