thought that we were in for a good day at npd today. There were plenty of fish showing on the sounder at fad2 and rick pulled a 51 cm yella first drop and that was first and last fish for 5 hours effort.

I'd take one 50cm fish per session. What do you put it down to, Ray ?

Water is very discoloured all the way to the new island. We found a few good shows on the sounder but no bites. Plenty of lungies surfacing. Percy was disappointed as we could not even get a forky for him. Shrimp were scarce and lots of dead ones in pots that were in shallow. A few pelicans about but no shags so it would appear that the bony bream schools have gone to ground.

IMO, apart from the murkiness of the water, the rotting vegetation of the newly flooded area have reduced the oxigen content of the water.

The dead shrimps in shallow pots tend to bear this out.

At least you can almost bet that your next trip will be better.

I wonder whether with winter approaching and a rise in water level they might be all stacked up at the dam wall wanting out of there for spawning season .
