I love handlines, when I was a wee taka before I had any rods and tackle I would use a handline and always would catch something on it.

i was canoeing down up the river near the wivenhoe spillway and there were mullet jumping all over place and we were all trying to catch. but not nearly as many as in that vid.

I don't know where that was but we do it here too, mostly for mullet and we get a few bass too. You have to be careful, sometimes they'll hit you in the eye.

A bit easier than throwing a cast net.

You have to get'em in a narrow, shallow channel with a flatboat. Run down it at a slow speed and they'll run to the bank .. hit it .. turn around and jump in the air into the boat.
