Tierra or Stradic?

Well its time to upgrade...my 4000 saros has been through the wars n its time for somthing a tad better.looking at a 4000 tierra or a stradic or anythin of similar quality and price?(budget wise-up to $250)as never owning either of these reels i'd like to get a few opinions before making my purchase.will mostly be used chasing mack tuna around the bay aswel as threaddies,snaps etc...

any input appreciated:)

You can get an Advantage with a stronger drag than the Tierra for $160 on ebay. I have heard some bad reports about the stradics to do with dodgy gears.

I have a 4000 stradic and its great but the tierras have got a better darg . Personaly I like both of the reels I think you will find them very simalar. Just depends if you are a daiwa or shimano fan. You could always get it from ebay or bass pro and get them for alot cheaper.

If you're buying local then yeah an older model Twin Power is a good buy. They have a bit of handle backplay but are an extremely strong and ruggard reel that can really be punished. They also share a fair few parts with the Stellas.

i've got the 4000 stradic and even though the biggest fish i've caught on it were only stingrays and shovelies:S it still performed flawlessly with no reel flex or slipping gears or anything like that.

I agree. I would definately go an Advantage over the Tierra. Check out the American Daiwa site, I was suprised when I seen the difference in drag pressures.

stradic 4000 has 20lb of drag,

whereas the tierra only has 13.2lb

Advantage has 17.6 pounds of drag and the Tierra has 13.2lb

Id say Tierra, only cos ive got one and Theyre mad!, and look sexy. And stay smooth even if you dont look after them ( like me )

i have a 2500 stradic. its well used and still going strong.

drag shouldnt be an issue unless you decide to put significantly higher lbs line on than what they are designed for
