Is there anywhere that sells bait that is open past 5.30 in the arvo at all?

I think the BP at the start of Kingsford smith drive does but you should just use lures they are more fun and effective.

Im in annerley and I was going to either go to viccy point or to redcliffe. I havent decided yet. The BP does have "heaps" apparently, hehe, so I guess Ill head upto redcliffe, sandgate area. Thanks for the info so far!

BP @ fishermans island is 24hrs, but maybe not convenient for you.

I'd go the local fish shop for squid/mullet, and if you live in a high ethnic area such as mount gravatt (not far from annerly) you can even get fresh pilchards these days from the fish shop near woolworths @ garden city....

even if you freeze it, its sometimes better than servo bait (could have been there 6+ months)

i would invest some $$$$ and duy a cast net, nothing beats live bait, and fun to catch too. and when the prawns are on, i know i'm not fishing much at all, i sometimes cook them at the ramp where i go and feed everybody fishin there, it makes them think twice, yummm. it doesn't have to be a large net 6 - 7 foot, some people will show you how to throw it, just keep it in the car until you see someone throwing 1...

hi charlotte,

most servos near the water sell bait. it's always good to find cheap green prawns at the local fisho and throw some in the freezer for "emergencies" such as these.

I know the 7-11 servo just after the Redcliffe bridge has bait, and "The Tackle Shop" at Carseldine is upon til about 7 most nights, and open from 4 on weekends.

Most seafood shops will sell some reasonable bait. Just make sure if you buy raw prawns from a supermarket or seafood shop that they are Australian, as the imported ones can carry a virus that will harm the local stocks.
