Bargain and a half!

Okay, well I must admit it wasn't really a \"bargain\" in the eyes of the shop. What happened was, I went to Big W this arvo to pickup a cheap/half-decent reel. So I picked up the Abu Garcia FN2000, at a price of $48.something with a free spool of 8lbs Berkley Trilene mono. (I later found out this line was worth $6.48 or something.

So, I was escorted over to the cash register (apparently this is what's needed when you want to purchase a fishing reel?), and the girl there scanned it all in. I'd also picked up some 6lbs Berkley Fireline to smack on this reel. As I handed my bank card over, I was bracing myself for yet another expenditure of $70 or so. To my surprise, the total only came to $28. I checked it afterwards and found they had charged me $6.50 for the line, and given me the reel for free (not the other way around).

Oh happy days!

Feral: you would have done the ethical thing.

What I did was fully legal:) I offered them $48 for the reel and line, she made a counter offer for $6.48. I accepted her counter offer:)

Business Law and Ethics for the win! Remember, I'm a poor university student, I need to save money where I can!

BIG DAVE 1: There was a barcode for the line on the top, and a barcode for the reel on the bottom. Obviously she scanned the wrong one:)

the mark ups on alot of tackle shop stuff would have covered the loss before you knew it. I was looking at a rod a while ago, the wholesale price was $220 and these guys (will not mention the shop) was selling them for $400, like thats $180 profit. sell 10 rods and that allmost $2000 profit
