Is Fishing the Southbank Parklands legal?

hi guys.

does anyone know whether it is legal to fish the Southbank Parklands? I dont see any no fishing signs, so i'm assuming htt it's legal to fish there.

have been thinking of hitting it up as an alternative spot close to home when i'm busy.

Often wondered this... It's so picturesque down there I cant imagine it would be allowed. I never see anyone fishing there but your right there doesn't seem to be any signs.

nah you should be ok. Theres a couple of pontoons on the water that you can fish from. Where do you live now though Adrian... you might as well walk to Kangaroo Point though...

not sure but there is billions of fork tail catfish that hang around the esplanade wall.

Good one mate...and wouldn't they look if you actually hooked something, say a big metre plus barra that started tail dancing towards everyone in their speedos and floaties.

The "no fishing" is only for the lagoons, not that there is fish in there anyway lol.

As for the river, years ago fishing there briefly we got moved on by security. I had time to soak 3 baits and if I remember right I landed three fish: an ok flatty (40 cm or so) a small bream and a catty.

EDIT: lol I went to close the rules page, read it again and it clearly says "No fishing or swimming in the river or fountains." My bad lol

man... fish from botanic gardens or KP... they're just as close to QUT

maybe you could try the park near kings college that's next to the golf course ... bream, rock cod ... and of course the "occasional" cattie lol

if you do dare to fish there i wouldnt pack a fishing knife lol, you could get searched and charged with carrying a concealed weapon

ive fished their 2 or 3 times. Never though about not being able to fish there

I used to do a fair bit of trolling around the lagoon on weekends............. ;-)

Alot of introduced species, but still quite rewarding.....
