Naming your boat......

How did you decide on a name for your boat? ....I've had my boat for 6 months and still haven't given it a name :blush:

Well, mine came pre named, i dont like the name particularly but i heard its bad luck to rename.

Pick either a female name you like, or name a quality about yourself maybe?

"The Mistress" always appealed to me

when i was dumping a boat i had a mate took a sticker off it for his car.

i took the other sticker off it that the name of the boat i got now.

my old man named his new boats .after mum and stuff.

second hand boats all ready named stayed with there name.

the one before was called abyssmal....because thats how we did most of the time

the one before that was a sharkcat called kato's pussy (my nick name is kato)

i heard a really good name for a boat could be "bannana" lol, maybe we can secretly sticker bannana rays boat, as we all know how much he loves babana and fishing lol

in our family if you keep people from something your a 'bandit'. my boat keeps me away from the missus..it's made of tin so it's called..'tin bandit'. don't get me wrong i love her to bits..the wife's alright too :laugh:

Its always good to have a name that has dirty overtunes. Always raises a few smiles. Especially good over the vhf.

e.g. Slimy Seamen or something.

i called my boat grandmarz undies well untill i thought when i get in it (im in grandmarz undies :blush: so just changed it to ya sistaz undies that works alot better more fish 2 i think it the fresh smell now

We've just got a boat for the family...6m aluminium halfcabin.

We used my late father's superannuation to buy it (cause we all know super's not doing to well in this economy so we thought we'd use it for something we could all enjoy).

So we are naming the boat "Terry's Super"...both cause terry was super, and his super was used to pay for it :-)

It'll get the locals in our small town talking anyway :laugh:

I have always planned to get a large inboard ski boat one day and call it 'Screamin Seamen'. And the other I have planned is for my sailing cat when I venture around the Whitsundays on long service leave and it will be called 'Wet Dream'.

Just some food for thought, and no you cant have them!

When my daughter was young (can;t recall what it was) but something took off at a great rate of knots and I turned to my daughter and said it's Absconded she looked puzzled so I added run away, taken off well she cracked up and that was the start of it she still uses the term :woohoo: as do I

So it seemed a fitting name so "Absconded" was born

Mine is Sole-searching as it was already named when I got it and the boss wont let me change it to Overseaer as that was my job when I bought it. Ones I have seen and like are On Site then you can say I an going to be "on site"all weekend and the mrs would think I am at work,or the office and Offical business.

We named our boat arter our own names and the number of boats that it is that we owned so the name of big bertha is Melmick V

Other names I have considered are "called in sick", "no bananas" and "boob jiggler"

12 months since I first walked into the boat shop and I still haven't named it!!

and the miss's isn't helping suggesting the worst names possible!!

It's great to hear the stories of how names come about though - anyone got any more?

i bought my boat secondhand it it already had a name, its called the Baramundi

i bought my first kayak and after a while i caught a nice little jack out of it and i liked to go crab potting out of it so i called it jack pot

#1 because of the mangrove jack and crabpot

#2 because everytime i fish out of it i hit the JACK POT :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo: :cheer: :laugh: :laugh: :laugh:

my other new boat i called Piddlin Pete because he leakes like a siv!

and yes my boats are male and female! lol
