State Of Origin Tactics/Locations

Hey everyone.

A lot of people will be going down to the bruns for the first time for the SOO. With this in mind I wanted to share some spots I have personally done pretty well.

I am no expert on the river, but I have fished it close to a dozen times now and have a few spots up my sleeve.

One thing ill point out from the thread is the land based fishing potential is unreal! If you dont have a boat or deckie spot you should by no means discount this event. I myself will be going down as a land based fisherman.

I am going to publish some Google Maps with colour coded locations on where I have caught fish.

These images are taken moving up river.

Picture one: These are all land based spots.

Red: Tailor and Trevs.

Green: Whiting and Flathead.

Orange: Bream.

Pink: Flathead.

Yellow: Whiting and Flathead from the two bridges.

Land based again.

Green: Bream bream bream bream.

Orange: Bream, Flatties (on the drop offs).

Ok...

Green: Really only fishable by boat. This is oyster rack country, Lots of bream anf trevs.

Red: Flatty Central. A mate tells me there are also a lot of Jew here at night but I never seen it.

This is boat access.

Red: Bream, bream brea once again, including my biggest from the river @ 32cm.

Green: Old racks which seem to attrach Trevs and chopper tailor.

Orange: A fantastic stretch for Flatty trolling.

Yeah but what will I catch casting from site 157?

a tip for people

if you really want some success in the bruns on things like bream whiting and trevs, dont use any line over 6lb

its a very clear river and i would even tend to go to 3 and 2lb fluro to catch my fish if i was going

Yeah its def not. I checked that out thoroughly before. But it is close!

Thats a great map for those who dont know the river Maxi.

The green mark in the 3rd map is directly opposite the camp site

When I was down there with fishyman there were loads of bream hitting surface lures all the way out the middle of the channel!

Plus we saw some Huuuge trevally feeding off the bottom as well.
